Our current offer predominantly focuses on young people 16+ who have a current EHCP, and are not able to learn in another setting. Our holistic approach allows us to support everyone in all aspects of their lives, and also ensures we can support learning for every individual in a way that works for them. By ensuring small groups or 1:1 if needed, our young people are able to move forward and take steps to prepare them for work fully prepared.
We are a registered AQA centre and are proud to be able to offer awards in as many different things as our young people have interests! The list is endless, but we have covered many different baking & cooking skills, woodwork & willow projects, horticulture skills, and even spent some time on key life skills such as sewing and shopping on a budget!
We are able to offer City and Guilds Level 1 gardening to our young people.
This course focuses on the key practical skills in horticulture, starting with the basics such as planting and pruning. It is a great start for any of our co-farmers who are interested in Horticulture, and we are able to do it at an individuals pace to make sure they grasp all aspects of the required learning.
We regularly have corporate volunteers that come and spend the day with us, helping with some of our big jobs that need some extra assistance. If you and your company are interested in offering us a day of help, please send us an email. Examples of work completed in the past range from sewing our wiggly worms to sell at fairs supporting the local community, digging over our never ending compost heaps, planting trees, feeding the goats, building stone walls, the list goes on and on!
We have been able to facilitate a couple of volunteer hours for the Duke of Edinburgh award on a Saturday morning with a small number of young people. They have been able to spend time learning about animal care whilst also learning about the responsibility of working within a group, a key skill for the future.
